Each day I’ve been trying to take one small positive step in my life. Here is what I’ve achieved so far:

Bought wholegrain cereal, milk and raisins and started eating a proper breakfast every morning.
Unfriended unhelpful or unkind facebook people (including my abusive ex-boyfriend).
Started solving rubix cubes as a distraction when I feel like self-harming (no self harm since 4/10/12).
Took the surgical blade out of the back of my phone.
Registered at a library close to where I work so I don’t have to walk far to the one near my flat.
Started listening to psychology audiobooks when travelling to and from work.
Made a list of everything I need to do and prioritised things.
Cleared out my flat and threw away anything I didn’t need.
Started taking vitamins, minerals and oils every evening.
Went for a bra-sizing and bought one which actually fits well.
Explained to my boyfriend that I was raped and that I have depression.
Started moisturising with vitamin e oil, especially on scars.
Made lots of good playlists for when I’m feeling low.
Started recording video diaries more regularly to deal with stress.
Downloaded lots of CBT worksheets to go through.
Started buying a piece of fruit each day on my way to work.
Removed the background photo of my late boyfriend from my phone and laptop.
Set aside 30 minutes each day to relax or do something I enjoy.
Cleared out un-necessary files on my laptop and backed everything up.
Explained to my classmates that I have ME/CFS rather than keeping it a secret.
Started cooking something each evening and making sandwiches for lunch.
Had lunch with my classmates rather than self-isolating and going to the library.
Started asking for a seat on the train when my ME/CFS is bad rather than risk fainting again.
Started writing letters to the people I care about most to tell them how wonderful they are.

I’ll keep working on it. Any suggestions welcome.

  1. Reading your list of achievements has given me the courage to start my own. It’s the smallest achievements that mean the most. I wish you all the best in all that you do.
